Did you not remember refusing a test is an automatic disqualification? I say remember because it's in the CDL manuals. Were you intoxicated? I'd have to say yep, otherwise there would be no reason to refuse. Intoxicated and driving a car or big-truck while holding a CDL, is inexcusable. You got what you deserved. Sorry I have no sympathy towards those that do that. Something that most prior LEOs and emergency medical personnel share.

Practice these lines for your next interviews...
    Welcome to Wal-Mart.
Would you like to super-size that?

As far as I am concerned, people who get DUI charges against them are not mature enough to get behind the wheel of anything car or truck. It shows me your lack of willpower and too much selfishness. My kids will be on the road in a few years and GOD help the person responsible for hurting them out there. That is the truth believe you and me.

I am a huge beer drinker and did alot more stuff when I was young but as soon as I got my CDL I never had a drink and drove, scouts honor. My CDL puts food on my table and a roof over my family and I will not mess it up because of some stupid party. Seriously, grow the hell up.

And for the people that wish him luck and hope he is forgiven? I hope your family is in the vehicle in front of him when he messes up the "second" time....

Its all about choices , The OP chose to drink and drive....that is how future employers are gonna see it. It stands to reason that someone with that poor of a decision making process in their mind has absolutely no business in a vehicle of any kind. Sorry to be so harsh, but this ain't rocket science....anyone including the OP that intends on making their living and supporting a family with a drivers license should know better than even take a single sip of alcohol and get behind the wheel of anything. When they choose to put themselves and anyone else at risk when they do , then get caught at it , well game over....no do overs or second chances.

That's different, I think we hope that he does get it straightened out. However this P.C. coddling for those that are suppose to be adults, suppose to be able to make critical decisions is absurd. Those posts where they sound like the OP is a victim, I think are what Wicked Wizard is referring to. Poor little thing got picked on, got his CDL taken away, he should not have to go through all that torment. We need to get rid of the "everyone is a victim" mentality. If the punishment is 5-10 yrs before you're allowed to drive, then he should wait at least that long. He should also count his blessings that the refusal was not during a traffic accident investigation.

Reasons like this is why I do not drive a car when I'm on hometime. I don't have to worry about any traffic tickets or DUI. When I go out dinner with the wife and have drinks, I'm not ever driving our car, I have nothing to worry about. All CDL holders should follow this practice if possible. You can never take any chances.

That is called choosing to do whats right and protect your wife , yourself , and all the rest of us that out here. Nothing wrong with having a drink or a couple of beers with supper....just choose not to drive afterwards.

i agree with all of what you said except the last part hoping their families are the vehicle in front of him.You NEVER wanna hope that on anybody even if you didnt like what they said about being forgiving.

DUI is bad in many, many, many other industries, not just Trucking. The OP just screwed himself out of 3/4 of the jobs in America. I recommend the OP relocate to Mexico for ten years.

Let's FORGIVE everything !!! When the next "OP" shows up and say's "hey, I screwed up and killed a family of four-but I didn't mean it-so when can I expect to get another driving job" ? What's the excuse then ? Jesus, do you "professionals" have ANY standards anymore ? When is enough enough ??? Talk about lowering the bar, there seems to be NO "bar" anymore..Drugs, felonies, DUI's, chargeable accidents and general stupidity are all things we should look past. And then you wonder why no-one respects us anymore. To employers we are a joke..The OP should not and hopefully will never drive a CMV anymore. Want him behind YOUR 16 year old daughter in the rain the next time he decides to drink and drive ?
