I just tried posting this and I wasn’t logged in, so forgive me if it posts twice. I’m sure there are answers in the thousands of posts, but I’d like any advice I can get. I’ve been hauling yachts with an F450 for 10 years and decided it was time to get a big rig. In the time I’ve been looking, a friend who owns a trucking company offered me $2.00/mile + .85 fsc and $50/hour for any waiting for drop and hook from Washington to Nebraska. Before I pull the trigger on a 2020 cascadia for $95,000 for this job, are there any more specifics I need to find out? I’d only be getting the truck for this job as I’d have to purchase a new $100,000 yacht transport trailer if I wanted to use this for my current trade. I like the idea of a company with support, constant work and dispatch support. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Doesn’t sound bad that bad. If it doesn’t work out you can always lease it on to someone else.

That said I would get more information. Like what would the insurance be, you responsible for plates, is there fuel discounts, etc.

    tscottme and Charlie42 Thank this.

Thanks for the input. They pay for everything and it’s under a their authority, so I can’t do any independent work if I wanted to. That’s a good point that I can always lease the truck to someone else if I decide that isn’t for me. I appreciate your input, thank you:)

i am responsible for the Bobtail insurance, so correction there. If I get a truck with a transferable warranty and Bobtail insurance that replaces the truck within 72 hours of a breakdown, is there anything else I should look for? The owner of the company is an old client and friend, so it seems pretty straight up. It’s $.45 discount at flying J and Ryder (I’ve never fueled at a Ryder station, so I need to look up where they’re located). I am doing $6.00/mile now, but it’s a lot of work to stay booked, no empty load returns, billing, customer facing…so this sounds great if I’m not missing something huge.

For right now I think that’s pretty good. I would consider leasing onto it myself. If they keep you busy it sounds good.

    2.85 all miles.
Average 2500 miles is good in this market.
Should clear easy 3k and more a week net

You will need to get fire, theft, you know full coverage insurance on the truck in case someone hits you with no insurance it's not much in the long run?
