Buying a new freightliner or a used like new pete. I'm selling my house and buying a new one. Currently live in cali. I can literally move anywhere. Cali has a 8% sales tax on trucks. Even if I buy it out of state I must pay that for the title. What are states if I lived in I would avoid this sales tax? I think oregon is one but I'm not willing to live in oregon. Suggestions?

If you buy new, you have to pay FET where ever you live.

    nada.org said.

This tax on most new heavy-duty trucks, tractors and trailers has grown from 3 percent to 12 percent today. The FET is the highest excise tax on a percentage basis that Congress levies on a product,

Not really the info I'm looking for. Example Oregon has no sales tax. But they have a tax on comerical vechile purchases. Ohio, has sales tax But does not tax comerical vechile purchases. But thank you for trying.

New Jersey, Class 8 trucks are exempt. One gov tried to tax 'em and the truck dealers were crying that everyone was buying out of the state to their detriment.. so it was changed back.....other states do too

    Rideandrepair and Wespipes Thank this.

Arkansas is 10% on anything above 4000.00 Then the Revenuer (Yes we use that word, your equivilant would be DMV for one side and personal taxes on your house, lands and vehicles on the other) will assess a percentage and bill you.

The 10% stands between any vehicle above 4000.00 and your ability to get clear title.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.
