Lol!! Ohhh how I wish ;) I have one son in high school who will not move, so when he heads off to college I told him I needed to find some Sunshine. Lol He is a smart young man, very into working hard in science and history, so he will one day travel the world digging artifacts. But yes, I miss Vegas! :)

I hear you about feeding teenage boys. Sometimes you can not fill them up with a cement truck.

How about we help out with some cheap recipes that will fill them up at a low cost. Everyone has some they can probably chip in with.... Remember, potatoes will always stretch any meal.

Here is one my grandma gave me years ago and I have not found any of my kids or grandkids that did not eat it up.

1 lb meat browned (burger works well)
    1 can green beans (drained)
    1 can lima beans (drained)
    1 can pinto beans (drained)
    1 can kidney beans (undrained)
1 can pork and beans (undrained)
    1 cup ketchup

Combine it all in a crock pot and cook till done.

I have expanded on the recipe to fit my tastes...

    I drain the kidney beans
I add one can of corn (drained)
I add either potatoes or yams peeled and cubed
I add chili powder to taste
I add cayenne pepper to taste
I replaced the ketchup with tomato sauce

This is a great stick to your ribs kind of meal. My 3 year old grandson ate 3 bowls of it the first time he had it. I made it without the pepper and chili powder for him though.

A word of caution.... The boys may want to sleep with the windows open. We would not want anyone to get hurt...:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

I have fed 5 adults and 2 kids on this one pot.

LOVE IT!!!! What a great idea!!! Thank you :) I had earned 100.00 today, and was able to buy some
Oh yes they eat sooo much!! Lol What a great idea!! I love new recipes! I had made this one this week, and I think we ate on it 3 days straight!! Lol but it was yummy, and cheap. ;) I'll go ahead and post the recipe in case anyone may want to try it.
    3Lbs burger browned with onion.
(Optional) also add 1lb of browned ground Italian spicy sausage.
2 large containers of spicy V8 juice added after burger.
1 large can mixed veggies, like Veg-all.
    1 head of cabbage chopped
    6 potatoes (chunky)
    Pepper/salt
Let simmer in crock pot for a few hours to cook potatoes, n cabbage.
My kids n hubby love this. He takes a few bowls for his truck n reheats it. Very cheap large meal.
Thank you for the new recipe I will certainly use it :) Have a great night!! Ttys

Oh goodness, part of my post was posted and missing part of it. Lol Where I said I earned 100 n was able to buy some more food. And I was sure to get as many raw, from scratch ingredients as possible. I also found one heck of a deal on deli breads they put out for quick sale and stocked my deep freezer. Lol it was great, like 6 types of yummy bread styles normally 3.00+, i got n froze them for .60 cents each bag!! :) so darn happy :p lol

As a flatbedder I can tell you there is no flatbed company that has a worse reputation than Western Express. The drivers for Melton, with whom I spoke were not to fond of them either. I spoke with a TMC trainer, and it sounded like they make sure the driver is ready to be safe.

It sounds like the OP's husband is getting a decent gross for an inexperienced driver, the insurance deduction is killing them.

There's no taxes taken out of that either, that is only his gross after the company takes out all of their deductions. Figure the tax that will come out of that and he is no better off than what you have right now. Worse actually, when it comes time to fix something on that truck he is leasing, or needs to buy new tires for it, its gonna hurt.

He should drive for a food service company or pull refrigerated. They haul food! Large families need lots of food! Many reefer drivers have 2 or 3 or more huge freezers at home.
