Interested in purchasing a truck late winter next year. This is the response I’m getting from my local dealership after inquiring on a new truck.

“I can help you with your truck purchase. If you are looking for a truck in 5 years I do suggest you start looking know because production is out that long.”

I’ll probably end up calling him, but does this sound realistic? Or is he meaning for a custom spec truck?

The local KW dealer down the road had probably close to 100 new trucks on the lot a year ago. Today, just 2 trucks up front and the back lot looks pretty empty.

Production on everything is way behind. Doesn't matter what you're looking for.

Are brand new truck prices also going to be inflated like the used truck market? I noticed lonemountain doesn’t even have any in stock but raised prices by I think 10k?

I talked with my local freightliner dealer and was told if I ordered the truck soon. It would be here by second quarter of next year.

When ordering a truck, how committed are you in a monetary sense?

I talked to international and put a reservation on a new truck. Wont be ready for 16 months at a minimum and may be pushed back further if the parts shortage worsens.

Yes it does make me wonder if trucking companies are doing it so tough where are they getting all the cash to purchase these vehicles? I strongly suspect they are going into debt to do it.

A lot have no choice. The company my dad works at had all their trucks hitting the 1 million mark and are being forced to snap up anything with wheels or be in breach of contract as a TON of their routes require a truck under X miles and years. Hell they just got 10 macks a volvo and a O/O spec freightliner and the company normally only uses KW T680s

    Jarhed1964 Thanks this.
