Yes you can work for Ca. company with a Tx. CDL as long as you actually reside in Tx. That job sounds decent enough to get your feet wet in the industry. Sounds like 1300 mi one way, right ? Do a turn, get home weekly.
New, working on training for my road test in 2 weeks.

It looks like it's a decent start. So I drove around town with the man today. He's pretty cool. He owns 3 trucks, he drives one, and right now he is looking for 1 driver. So it was awesome today!! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had a bit of trouble shifting the gears on the thing. It was a 13 speed. But I got the hang of it. Did about an hour on and off the highway, taking exits, getting back on and such. Then about an hour and a half driving through town. I got the hang of it. He will be back in Sunday. And he will load on Tuesday. So he said Sunday and Monday we will drive and drive and then he will take me on the road with him the following Sunday to cali and back. And instead of paying me to help him drive the little that o am allowed, he is going to pay for that school I mentioned earlier. He will pay the $1650 to the school so I can take the test with a day cab and a 20-something foot trailer. And he will have me on one of his trucks.

Ok so I came to a cross roads today. Pam Transport from lubbock called me about my application. I applied with them last week because they review a felony case to case basis. And we'll they processed my application and a recruiter called me back asking if I could go to Dallas to school...? Now that I have options, I would like some more opinions.
I've read some reviews on pam, and they seem to be the better place over crst and swift. And contract for a year.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
My two cents would be go to pam and get your experience brother and then get on with either a LtL line haul or pulling tankers.

Don't stress it brother, first thing is first get on with pam and do your year and then get do your tests. After that you can always look up your options, since you live near the McAllen area check out averitt old dominion aaa cooper and the others I can't think of them they are all ltl companies with good benefits.
