Being a newb, looking into the career change thing, I contacted an old childhood friend of mine who has been truckin for 20 yrs. I talked to him on the cell as he was rolling thru AR on his way to TX.

Anyway I got to pick his brain for a good 45 minutes or so and he was very helpful AND much of what he said has been mentioned on this forum in various threads. I felt much better about this prospect and will continue to do "research" on the subject.

Sooo, he has a pretty sweet deal I guess, runnin to TX a couple times a week n back something like 3k home every weekend or something like that. Since the last time i rode in a 18 wheeler was 30 years ago, (in a Mack from Fort Branch, IN to PA for Emge Meats:biggrin_25514:) he thought it would be a good idea for me to go with him on a run to see what it is like. Hopefully in a week or 2! I am pretty fired up and this could help me out making my decision. He will fill me in on life on the road and I can see first hand for myself. I cant wait! He may be able to help me with getting a good ride too, he knows alot of people around here.

Oh, my background is on a different thread - Questions from New Drivers / Trucking Schools
