going through the dreaded who to go with part as a newbee here, the more i read the more confused i get. so here is the big question, out of these two choices, Werner or Swift, who would you go with and why? Not looking for company bashing as I have read enough of that to give me a #### headache, just who would you go with to get your training done and some road experience. I do have other prehires but for personal reasons these are my top two candidates. One is offering me a dedicated run which is appealing to me being new, not sure if that would make a difference in your opinion or not, it is influencing me and not sure if that should not be a issue. Like the idea of a certain mileage and a basic idea of the range of my pay check.
Newbee here that needs help!!

So far my experience with Swift has been good through school and orientation. I am still waiting on a Mentor that is the only issue so far.

Both are actually fine to get your start with. I started with Swift, but that was 11 years ago. My hubby started with Werner on a Wal-mart Dedicated account. Which one of the two suits your needs the best?
-
I would just pick the one that suits your needs best and go with it.
Like you said, you're just going with one of those companies to get your training and experience, so just pick one that best suits what you need from a company and go for it. Make a list if you have to of pros and cons of each.
Good luck and be safe. -
Do you have a bad MVR or criminal history? Why are these your only choices? I would take any offer from a recruiter with a grain of salt. Keep in mind they get paid as long as they can get you to show up for orientation. It doesn't matter if you are there for ten minutes. Recruiters can and will lie to you so keep your filters on. Personally I would strongly recommend you stay away from the mega-carriers. However I am just some random stranger on the internet. Welcome to the forum, good luck!

Don't let all the negative horror stories you read here get you down. Remember...there's two sides to every story, you're only getting one side.
Do some research outside of this forum...hit a truckstop or two and talk to drivers that run with the companies you're thinking of going with. A cup of coffee and a danish goes a long way! -
The reason for me looking hard at these two is to cut my teeth and get familiar with the trucking industry, my mvr is clean (had some issues as a youngster but they dont seem to come up when applying). The dedicated route is coming from a recruiter but I have spoke to others at the company and seems I get the same story so I am inclined to believe it. One instructor I had at school was a driver for one of these and speaks very highly. My main reason for the dilema is the company that offers the dedicate route starts out with lower training pay and I know past training is when i can make up for it, just hard to swallow when funds are non-existent for me anymore. Worked for a business for 24 years and it closed, looked around for work for too long before getting my schooling and cdl and now I am hard pressed to get the wheels turning to get the jingle back in my pocket. About to flip a coin and let that be the decision maker, was just surprised at how both these companies got bashed and from a outsider just coming in it made me a little uneasy. Of course the lack of communication from one of these guys isnt giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling. I appreciate all views given!!! I have prehires from a few others but the all a little more long haul and for personal reason need to stay more regional at this time, long haul will be in a year or two. Thank you all again!!! Just afraid to make a dumb mistake as my first move in a new career.

The recruiter can promise you any position, but the reality is they will put you where they need you.
