If this place had a team of hottie bus drivers doing pickups/drop-offs it’d become a franchise overnight.

Left Oil Field... yup...
I really liked the job itself. The driving out in the country. Loved all the animals.
But it was just plain too goofy. Everything you do by being told. No documentation. No checking things to make sure. No weighing the truck to know. Amounts loaded goofed up and nobody knows. Just be a matter of time till I get in trouble with DOT. Could make the money. But generally too many problems. Money ok. But also spend it. Like having to have a second home there. In the end. Not worth it.
Had several job offers. Won't sit here and down talk companies.
I did just pass on having my cat declared a service animal. They wanted to document me with something psychologically wrong with me for the service animal. Told them to just forget it.
I'm going back to work for Magnum. It's just too good a company. Loved it there.

 

I can't believe how much I'm sleeping here.
Yes, I pushed it Friday morning. Got off early at 4am. Usually 7.
Drove home to Black Hills. Got here at 7.
Slept a few hours...then...
Had an appointment at 1:30pm. Wasn't a happy alert camper at all.
Slept a bunch last night.
Woke early about 5?. Then at 9:30 this morning. Tired and figured I'd get a couple hours sleep. Kinda catch up. Geesh! I woke up at 4:30 this afternoon!

Ever since the minute I agreed with Magnum to come back. I've been so relaxed. Swear my blood pressure has dropped. .... This is almost too relaxed!
I'm seriously looking forward to going back to Magnum and OTR. Nothing but good attitudes.


If anybody interested. Yes I made as much as $560 in one night in the Oil Field. Also made as little as about $100 due to problem. Trailer broke. Couldn't load. Sat at a site all night waiting for supervisor and mechanic to come fix it.

 

Can you believe it? 3 days after my last night working the Oil Field. I had to reply to a text from the Manager of Water that I didn't work there anymore.
Did I say something about goofy?

 

I'm not going to work for Magnum. Congratulations Bryce. Company won't do anything about it's insecure Safety Department. Remember what Colin Powell said: There is nothing on the face of the earth worse than an insecure leader.

I do have to agree with DOT. They hate the FMCSA and all it's CSA points and such. DOT has nothing to do with that. DOT says it's funded by the Companies. Exists to take responsibility off of the companies. Move 100% of responsibility to the drivers. I got this from DOT. After looking at my report. I have to agree. CSA report is incompetent. Left out clean inspections. Perverted violations. A damaged mud flap hanger turned into 'no dot approved bumper'. When a pneumatic trailer has no dot approved bumper. It sits too low in the back. Has a bunch back there. Look at them yourself. Unless it's for off road like Oil Field. There are no dot approved bumpers on most pneumatic trailers. Straight from the factory that way. ... They're kinda like low boy flat beds. They have no dot approved bumper either.
They turned the driving in the right lane in a (false) construction zone. Into "Dangerous Driving". Thank you Bryce! No drive cam video! They went out of their way to create this false appearance of the construction zone ending.
Safety tried to say I don't know HOS or Elogs. When DOT has told me that I really know what I'm doing. Now who is right?
Safety Department is Magnum's achilles heal.

Might be best for me. I didn't realize. Through all this leaving the Oil Field because of safety. (no violations). I ran across a tiny little add in Craigslist. Looks like I'm going to haul cement powder out of Rapid City. Maybe a couple nights a week overnight. Live at home. Save money. Talking with this guy. We really see eye to eye. He likes the route to Denver that I like for the same reasons. He doesn't like the CSA scores either (like DOT). Said he don't give a darn what CSA score says. Just my license record and will insurance insure me. Insurance has approved me. Also...I was looking at growing plants for income as a supplement in retirement. Now? I'm going to try this. Most of it is work here and there. But mostly just letting them grow. Get them started. Then sell them. Always enjoyed gardening.

Oh and in my looking. Jim Palmer came up very close to Magnum again. Was going to go back because of my knowing Magnum. Great culture there. Loved most all the people. Knew what I had. Tony said I'll be welcome back in July when my CSA score goes down... But... I'll go with Jim Palmer if I go back. Jim Palmer knows everything. Might have the best situation now? I'll have to see.
I seriously need to be doing more physically. All the time I've spent painting my front porch. Have been in pain the whole time.
Might be best for me to stay here and not go OTR.

Also got a call from the guy who trained me in Oil Field today. I always told them not to blame him for my training. He doesn't know and it ain't his fault. Bad lack of communication there. He'd like to see me come back. I really don't think so. Just a matter of time till I would have gotten in trouble with DOT. No thank you.
I have now fired three companies because of safety and compliance.

 

Here’s my porch. Not finished. At least one coat on each color so far. It’s looking a ton better. It was red. Didn’t fit the house. I think I've done a ton to make the whole neighborhood look better. Storage shed was the biggest eye sore. It matches the house now. Roof and all. You can see one of my security cameras in the pic. Got a bunch of them. Some hidden better than others. Can't get near the house without being recorded and stored on the internet. And yes. Somebody tries to fool with one camera. There are two others recording him doing it.
