It's hard to argue with better and more stable income but I couldn't give up the home time. Being home for a 34 will just be laundry, catching up on rest, doing the chores won't it? Old trucks are something you will get used to, until recently when I was running a linehaul the average age of the trucks I've driven over the past 20 years was probably 20 years old. Most guys would scream and cry (some still do lol) if they had to drive them but you get used to it.
Newbie.... blah blah blah....yadda yadda yadda

"ND?" "Unload then sleep." ~ Then where to? If ya done mind my asking? Jus' curious. I always used to run the I 90 through So. Dakota on my way to or back from WA. I loved that route so much. sigh I don't feel like I can say much here anymore, as some have said that I get too emotional. humph but...
How can you be a fan of that song that you posted in your first post here in this thread and not feel?
long pause
I would like to get to know you more though. Not often I get to meet someone with an interest in Broadway musicals. I don't want to post any more of my music links here in your thread. I was very hesitant to press that "Post Reply" button and then leave those two replies on your thread up. But hey, I figured you could just tell me to go to Hell and then report me for being a thread Hijacker. Doh!
I started singing later in life. Sang in WA.(Volunteering at homes) That was a first for me - singing in public. I did so much when I was in WA. Don't wanna run on. I was shocked when asked to sing a duet with someone on special request. The reason? The person I was asked to sing with was all the rage. The ladies went ga ga for him. He just had a gift. Well. I did it and I will never forget it. Seems like a dream now. But anyway yeah. Don't sing much anymore now since I moved back to Illinois. Did some at one place. lol Yadda Yadda Yadda
Mostly sing now for the joy or the sadness. It's therapeutic. It resonates. - Goes through your soul and every brain synapse. That's why people with Alzheimer's can actually remember words and sing whole songs when they have lost the ability to speak. But if I get too sad. I just don't sing at all.
I gotta stop. Hey. If I don't hear from you again I just wanna say. Thanks so very much for posting that song and I wish you the very best.
~ Gamgee running through her noggin'(the not anywhere near a "Super Computer") ~ is it ok? ~ can I send this very interesting person whom Synchronicity and Serendipity may have put in ur path... yet again? ~ another song and, if you did? What wud it be?... Gamgee'... don't do it! lol and Gamgee stop talking to yourself. ~ people are watching!WesternPlains Thanks this. -
Don't worry about it, Gamgee. I'm a talker on here. Talk alot.
My singing I viewed as a gift. No way I ever thought of myself as a singer. Then, never wanted to sing for anybody. It was too good. Didn't want the attention. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Then thought I might use it. But doing writing. Also write my life story. Not so much about me. But the freedom and relationship with the real Jesus Christ as the Lamb who was slain. He would shock most people. Beaten to where he wasn't recognizable as a man. Awful looking. But with eyes full of love of others. Never ending. Always giving life. To the bitter end. A story to illustrate just how free a person is with Him.
I had a run one time. It was offered the last minute. Had to get it there as fast as I could. Ran hard through the night. Then the next. Found this to help me running late at night... others from Leonard Skynyrd also... keep ya awake...Be bouncing in the drivers seat by the time this is over.... at 3:30 in the morning...
JForce28 and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
Can't believe it. Just got my A1C results... 6.7. I thought it would definitely be higher. I've been eating all kinds of junk lately. Way too much. I expected higher.
I'm talking double chocolate doughnuts, Meatball sandwiches, ice cream. Stuff like that. Yes I suffer when eating that stuff.
Maybe it has to do some with being home so much now? Not so much that it's home. But being out of the truck alot more. More physical activity. Even though I have difficulty. Maybe????Lepton1 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
I changed jobs. Showing up to do dedicated wallyworld account on Wed.
I definitely feel good about this. Company has wisdom. Looks for the context in PSP points. Has no problem with me. A good sign I won't be dealing with Barney Fife anymore.
This is partly because the day gets broken up with stops. That's what got to me in OTR. I'm rehabilitating my legs. Thinking this will work in well.
The terminal, I'm told, is well equipped for us drivers not living there. Along with getting me home often. Should work out really well.
Really feeling good about this now. More selfish and liking my home. It's because I don't have to worry about making it through winter. No problem covering bills.
Wasn't an easy decision. Loved what I've been doing here out of home town. Working for this O/O has been great. Just the winter money is a problem. Actually wished I was a little better off financially. Maybe wouldn't have left? But this new one does seem really good. In every way.T.Rucker, kemosabi49, FlaSwampRat and 2 others Thank this. -
Best of luck, sounds like it should be a good change.
Lepton1, WesternPlains and kemosabi49 Thank this. -
I got stuck in ND. Truck broke. Here at least 5 days. Staying at hotel.
Decided to get a couple things as an excuse for Christmas presents for myself. Actually need them.
A "Tens Unit". It does help. Set it up on my feet. Gets circulation going. It helps. I'll have to explore more with it. Am thinking it can help a lot.
I picked up a pair of Powerblocks. Basically adjustable dumbbells. Been thinking about it for years. They are helping. Helping with circulation and just basic health. Don't get enough exercise driving the truck.
Got a really good pair of Mittens. They were expensive enough. They do work real well. -
Been two years now.
Been interesting. Learned a bunch.
Got a ton of experience with DOT. Thanks to my first job. Biggest thing I learned to help new drivers. Got this from DOT. DOT don’t like the FMCSA one bit. They’re a brat of a step child. Only interested in pointing the finger at you. Funded by the Megas. They avoid the companies responsibility with violations.
From my experience. I have to agree with DOT. My DAC report is a joke.
This is my fifth job. Too much attitude out there in companies who are working against you. Heed the red flags and get out. You’re not there to sacrifice your license to their company. Too many incompetent people making decisions.
I now have a job that suits me well. Making good money. Could make more. Not interested. Doing dedicated wallyworld account. I drive as far as Denver to Missouri/Iowa. ND to Ok. Delivers to my home town. Get home often.
I’m somewhat limited with companies because of where I live.kemosabi49 and dwells40 Thank this.
