Navajo express has recently contacted me about a job, I was told I would get .30 CPM and of that .15 CPM would be per diem. So here is the question(s), What exactly is per Diem? how does it affect my taxes at the end of the year? What should I know about this "per Diem"?
-Thanks in advance!

Type in "Per Diem" in the search bar here, there's a plethora of info. on the subject here.

Here's a helpful thread discussing the issue here http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/trucker-taxes/175848-per-diem-confusion.html

Per diem is non taxable and it will basically reduce the amount of your refund. So they are pretty much paying you .15 per mile.I would look elsewhere before I did that.

I ran a couple of trips with Navajo after I graduated Troops 2 Truckers, running bananas from San Diego to Phoenix, and my buddy ran with them for about a year. It may not be the best starting pay, but for the most part the dispatchers are ok and they do run good equipment.

I would avoid any company that has per diem integrated into your cpm. Especially one that has half of your cpm counting as per diem.

Another rip off scheme from these mega companies!

They are paying you .15/mi AND fronting you a good piece of next year's tax refund. They are playing you.
