Hey guys, im looking to start a career in truck drving and have researched good starter companys for new drivers. The three I am considering is Millis, Crete, and Schneider. I have no experience and was wondering if experience was necessary to be accepted at milllis or will they teach you everything from the ground up. Also was wondering if the lodging is included in the tuition price. Thanks for the help.

If your looking for a good company one of your 3 choices would be MILLS. Read the thread on them they have no complaints. They have good people there and one to follow is Baritone he keeps it updated very well and lots to learn from. Just my opinion.

If you don't have experience the only way millis will hire you is if you go through there school

I am currently in Richfield WI and just graduated from MTI yesterday. I did extensive research on companies that offered CDL training. In my Opinion Millis is by far the best. They have the best pay, smallest classes and if you read the MIllis threads you will not find many complaints at all. The hotel is not included in the tuition, however they pay for it up front and will deduct it from your pay check at ten dollars a week. I dont think Schneider has CDL training any longer. I think Millis is the best choice but you might look at Roehl too as an option.

I'll say this to the original poster......Millis will train you, give you good equipment and the miles to run. I also looked at Rohel, Stevens and a few others before deciding on Millis.
I havent looked back. But what's right for some is not always that way for others!
Good luck on your search and If you find yourself at Millis - let us know and there are plenty of us that will help you along the way. -
When do you leave with your trainer? And do you know who it is yet? -
Curious.. been to Millis web page and they state one needs 12 mnths exp. before they will consider a driver. This is the 2nd post I have seen about non experienced drivers heading there. from what I have read Millis does seem to be the better company out there. Hopefully Baritone can clarify more for me, esp as I'm currently looking for employment

I have zero experience, and I have been accepted to start on the 14th of March at the Millis school in Cartersville, GA. I, also researched many companies and was offered training from several others, but I decided on Millis. One, because of thier location, and two, they seem to offer the best start up for newbies.
