Hi, I'm Jacob. Just joined the forums in search of information, and advice.

My buddy, and I want to get into trucking, working as a team doing OTR.

Where do we start? We both need our CDL, so do we go get that ourselves, and then find a company, or should we find a company that will train us, and help us get our CDL's?

How do we decide on a company? You always see companies hiring drivers, bit what factors should be put into consideration?

How do we find an OTR possition withought experiance?

Thank you for your time. Any answers, or other advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Jacob.

I would get your CDLs outside of a company so you have more options...And there are companies that will let you team together out of the gate(after trainer time)...

At one point and I think its still true.......SNI (Schneider National, Inc.) was the best option for new drivers looking to team, pay and benefit wise. If you get on their site, they will list a school in your area and then providing your hired they will pay you back for your schooling over a period of time. You will attend post school training both at their training facility and over the road with a TE and after a couple weeks you will be teaming.

Teaming is very difficult, I did it for a few months and I just could not get used to sleeping with the truck moving......I was exhausted all the time. Plus it will stress you relationship. Good Luck!

Make sure the companies you are shooting for can keep a team busy. You don't want to be sitting out there not making any money. Sometimes the larger companies are better for teams.
