I'm a recent truck school grad, Apollo Truck Driving Academy in Lima, Ohio, looking for work. I would like to find an O/O who needs a driver for their truck. I would need some training obviously but i pick up things very quickly. I am very hard working and dependable. I worked at my previous employer, a factory, for 22 years with a spotless work record. (they relocated to Mexico, thx NAFTA). I am 46, single and my 2 kids are grown and on their own. I had a dui in jan. 2007 and most companies will not hire unless its 5 years old. I have no other tickets and have never had an accident. I need someone to show me the ropes of OTR, of which i do have some experience while hauling milk tankers for a company i was trying to get on with, they told me i had the job then 2 days before starting they decided not to hire. I have also been trained in the basic operations of heavy equipment. I know what it takes to be professional, courteous and treat people with respect. I am not looking to get rich but want to make a decent living and help the O/O make the money he needs also. Anyone who may take a chance on me will not be dissapointed. I'm just looking for a much needed break to get started and get experience. I live in Ohio about 45 miles west of Columbus. Thank you, Donnie. 937-935-8938

Did the school tell you, it was going to be hard finding a job with a dui?

I was aware it wouldn't be easy finding work because of it but some companies do accept over 3 years and im talking to a couple of those at present but looking everywhere I can. Also as far as cost, i didn't pay a dime because my training was paid by the government because i am a displaced worker. If i can find a place to get some experience it makes it easier with the dui plus it will be over 5 years one of these days and then it won't be a problem anymore. I got the training because it is a career i wanted to get into not just a job so it will be paying off for years to come even if it takes some time to get there. I am not going to blame a school for training me when i knew it would be tough afterwards, it's tough for a lot of people right now seaching for jobs they are trained in. Just visit any job fair and see the college degreed people looking for anything they can get.
