Hello guys,
My name is Sam in case you missed that. Just posting to introduce myself a little. I am currently waiting on my school date to attend CDL training at C1 in Ft Worth, then I'm signing on with PAM for a year. Ive heard nothing but the horror stories, matter of fact a good fiend of mine in the industry upon learning of my choice said to me, "Boy, you got desperate huh?" Honestly yes and no. Driver Solutions and PAM was not my first choice. I originally tried to sign on with Roehl and attend their school but was not approved due to a speeding ticket I have on record for 19mph over, in my defense that was the normal flow of traffic for that area..... had there been traffic(besides the deputy). My main concern is that they will not give me miles, I've read and heard stories about them starving solo drivers to try and push them to team drive. I accept that they are not a good company and don't plan to stay with them longer than is required, mainly just paying my dues and doing my time for the first year or so. Can any one vouch for PAM or are the stories to be believed?

If it was just one driver whining then it's just that. One driver whining.
When its so many consistently telling the same story over and over.......well, draw your own conclusion from that.
Suck it up, do enough time to either satisfy your contract or get 3 years between you and that ticket whichever comes first and keep a clean nose and move on to better things.
Good lucksupersam88m Thanks this. -

We've seen enough similar posts by other wannabes you should know by now he probably wasn't joking and fails to recognize what that means in this business.

What you hear is true. You do need thick skin if you wanna pursue this industry.Reason drivers don't get the miles is because companies hire more drivers then freight.I'm speaking from the OTR side. You'll make more if you choose dedicated or regional. At least you'll pretty much know what your checks will be week after week. With OTR you could make as low as 100.00 a week sometimes even lower then that.Just depends where you deliver and if there are any loadsto be picked up once you're unloaded.I would try and get dedicated or regional then once you're done with training that what you would be doing.Werner has many dedicated customers and drivers are required to unload the trailer but you get paid extra for that. Also the backing can be very difficult so of course there are things to consider.

Six of one half dozen of the other SAM pick your poison and stick with it 2 years. Then if you can stay out of the flow of traffic you might find a decent company.

Thanks for your input here guys, I gather from the research I've done on here and other websites that most training companies are kinda crappy. And yes the flow of traffic part was a joke. I had just put new heads and an intake on my car and was seeing what it would do. It just so happened there was a cop on an otherwise empty road at 2 A.M. I take full responsibility for my actions that night though. I'd like to think I realize the full implications of a moving violation on my record. I do know that many companies wont hire a driver with a bad record like that. That said, that is the only ticket on my record right now and I've also never been in an accident *knocks on wood* where I was driving the vehicle. I've never made a habit of speeding in a vehicle that weighs up to 40 tons that would be very dangerous and irresponsible to say the least. To touch on that whole wannabe comment there, I drove truck for the army for almost three and a half years. I've hauled millions of dollars worth of very sensitive equipment though terrain most people here haven't even imagined. I hauled tanks through stuff you wouldn't drive a car let alone a 40 ton truck and trailer with a 71 ton load. I've hauled standard flatbed, dry van, and specialized trailers with bogies that swivel to turn the trailer around corners, all accident free. I graduated at the top ranks in my class from AIT with the only people out driving my being the trainers. Don't really think wannabe applies here lol.
