It is what you make it.
Remember you are new and have tons to learn.
I have spoken to a few people that were trainees, seems those that had the best experience were those that "interviewed" the trainer and didn't just jump in the first truck available. -
yea today it's tuesday I have my permit but, waiting till the end of this week to get outside and start practicing the pre-trp, air brake test also, backing drills. I'm a little nervous at the same time I'm excited to get going on this thang finally! Most are scams, most companies make more money from gov rebates for training new drivers and don't really care if you stay or go. They would rather you go so they can make more money from a newbie and get the gov rebate. The insurance companies, EPA, OOIDA, and driving schools are all corrupt and making money off the trucking industry. Get a CDL on your own, and then find a ma and pa outfit that is a little bit 'cowboy' to hire you local and then make your next move. You will go to driving school and end-up working for peanuts. If you dont go to a company CDL school-they won't hire you. Has anyone ever given thought that a CDL is confirmation that you are fully qualified to drive an 18 all over the US and Canada? So why do some drivers need experience when you have a CDL. Its like getting your car license. After you pass the test you can drive a car or pickup alone anywhere without going to a school-why the difference? Money!!!!! Yes there has to be some way for the feds and companies to get a little more change out of you before they loose there chance and you get hired and on your own. End.
