The phase 1 trainer I was talking to about the fresh express route said on the first day he has the student he goes to sleep. Basically he gets them on the 40 and tells them to go west. He has to drive a full shift on the graveyard constantly or he will be late to his drop.

I asked him if the risk is worth the reward, he didn't have an answer for me.

my first trainer did the same thing with me 10 years ago .... we planned the whole route, fuel stops, and other possibilities and then he slept after he felt comfortable.

my wife and my trainer last week told us to just drive down I-20 .... even though the drop was 200 miles off of the interstate. Then on the last trip he told her to just go up I-55 to St. Louis and then straight out I-70 to Denver. We actually went through AR and took many different roads than I-55. He was not a very good trainer.

Now my wife and I are waiting for a new one.

Hi Beltloop, I hit a snag and ended up at Stevens school. I will be starting my third and final week Monday. I have a road test scheduled for DPS next Thursday, and after that will head out with a trainer. I can't answer your question with hard facts yet, but a lot will depend on your habits. I personally do not think $100 will be enough if you smoke, not sure what cigarettes cost anymore because I quite two years ago, but they were like $6.00 a pack in DE back then so that multiplied by 7 is about $42 a week just for cigs..

I am in an extended stay motel in Dallas at the moment and just hit up the Grocery store yesterday. I can get enough food for a week, things that can be fixed in a microwave for around $40 - 50. I would imagine it will be the same kind of stuff in the truck. this does not include drinks however as I am currently walking to the store (my car is at home), and do not feel like carrying th extra weight, or making two trips. But I would think two cases of water and a 12 pack of soda and that's going to be another $12 - 15 so right there I think we are very close to $100 and haven't got to the grab a soda or cup of coffee at a stop, or having a meal out yet.

A lot will depend on your trainers habits at first, but wjhen you get on your own (If you ever do with England) you will have more control. I honestly though would figure $70 - 100 for food and drink and then extra for cigs.

Remember these are rough calculations based on my habits. Yours will be slightly different.

    russellkanning Thanks this.

I am posting over in Stevens too. As far as snags, I hit one with Stevens, then hit another with CRE, but the Stevens snag went away, so I am here at Stevens.

I am not really doing a biographical blog or anything like that, more just posting on threads and asking questions where I feel I need some info, but I will certainly be happy to share anything I can.
