Newbie starting school Monday

    Hey guys. I start school at the local c.c. Monday. I've already been looking at companies and putting out app's for pre-hires. Schnieder and PRIME have both given me conditional offers. I also have app's in at mcelroy, Osborn/celedon, ptl, and maverick. Schneider I applied for bulk as I've heard thats where their money is. PRIME and maverick for reefer. I dont mind the idea of tarping with mcelroy, and ptl is dry van. I'm not too concerned with the trailer I pull, just want a decent company with good miles. I know all companies are what you make of them, but dont want to put up with more than I have to on the bull crap.

    Don't forget Freymiller for refrigerated. They hire new grads. The website has "experience required", but that's not up to date..
    Smart move attending a CC cdl school. You'll always have a good career in trucking if you shop around wisely for good companies.

    PTL runs eastern states and Texas.
    Titan Transfer is also dry van and runs coast to coast.

    I'd read about freymiller, just hadn't out in the app yet. Just put in one for Melton and considering wel. Updated my are just now, thanks for the heads up. And I dont like the idea of being locked in a contract with any one company, hence the cc.

    Gadsden, I figured somewhere in that area when you listed Osborn.
    Since you're interested in tankers, you listed Schneider Bulk,here's some more tanker outfits that hire new cdl grads:

    I only put in the app because the terminal in rainbow city. Not my top choice seeing as pay is about .08cpm lower than most the other companies I've applied for.

    With tanker companies, don't put much weight on cpm. Accessorial pays are what counts. With Tankstar, I made .36 cpm but after accessorial pays were factored in, made $65K each year. Some drivers made much more because I took a month off each year for vacation overseas.

    Get a "Passport Card" or "Passport Book" for Canada runs.
    Don't need a Passport Book unless you plan to travel overseas.
