There ain't a decent company out their these days. It seems like the turn-over rate, pay, screwed up dispatchers, and company management is only after the all mighty dollar, and the driver is just an unnecessary evil to make them the "green backs" . They remind me of the Government officials running for office. Tell the lies, and the reasons they have the best this, and that, until they get you in the door. Than it's Ben Dover. The pay per mile today is not much higher than it was in the 50's, 60's and 70's.
Best advice is if one does not have experience in this industry. Find a half a---ed decent company, stick it out to get some experience, and than buy own truck, get own authority, and finds your own loads using quality, reputable brokers, or your own contracts

Unfortunately, newbies have to start somewhere. If they can hold on while working for some of these larger carriers then they will have more options. Just sayin

I want to start at the top. Even though I have not proven myself I deserve to start at the top. I am better than everyone else. So do not waste my time if I can not start at the top.

DOH! (slaps forehead) WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT? Just buy a truck, get my own authority, and find quality brokers, or contacts. It's that simple! No problems for ever more, all my worries are gone! BRILLIANT!!

FYI you can read this forum without being a member, you just can't post anything. Conversely you can be a member for years and not post anything.

Are you saying that there aren't any quality Brokers out there? Shouldn't getting your own Truck, Authority and working with good brokers be your goal if you want to make money in this industry? There are some people in this industry that are making a ton of money. They are few and far between and are usually specialized one where the other.

I'm surprised that he didn't mention Western Express. Maybe that just goes without being said. After all that is common knowledge.

I'm saying Triple Digit talks like this is something EVERYONE can, and should do, that it's a simple process, and all the worries are gone.

Fact of the matter is, many drivers shouldn't be drivers, much less business owners. Which is what Triple Digit is mentioning. It takes a special type of person to make this type of business work, something many of us are ill equipped to do.
