You can't win on these forums as a newbie. If you ask questions about new companies you're told all the megas suck, don't work there. But we have to start somewhere and generally that means a mega, specially if you can't afford to go to a school.

If you express an opinion that happens to be wrong, you're a newbie, do the job first than talk. Even when you acknowledge the mistake. Shut up and do the job before saying anything because you can't possibly know even general knowledge things unless you've sat in a seat for 20 years.

If you don't listen to the advice precisely and work for a company someone else said sucked you are stupid and get what you deserve. No matter that, as above, you have very little choice as a newbie but to put in some time in the seat.

You can't start at the top, you have to put in the time to learn and listen before you can be a real driver. Regardless of all of the above opinions.

Now of course, I don't mean every one on these forums. There are some who are actually here to give advice and help out. But there are so many that seem to like being here just to ridicule others. It makes it hard to find the advice you're looking for, and sometimes even harder to bother looking here specifically.

You are absolutely correct. I would almost guarantee that 85 % of those that bad mouth these companies have never worked for them.

I currently drive for PTL and have never been happier. So i disagree with them being on your list. I make money to pay the bills and i get to run my truck . They don't hound me or tell me how to drive. To me that's more important then being paid top dollar, not stressing out the driver with BS.

I work at a company that has about 70 trucks and 3 divisions. I am not paid peanuts. Detention is paid after 2 hours. Benefits from day one. I have never waited more than 15 minutes for a reload. All the support staff practically bends over backwards to make it as easy as possible. I have been driving less than six months. You do not have to bend over and take it from a mega.

Maybe things are different now but, when I worked there fresh out of school in 2006 they would always let me sit stranded away from home in West bofoo at some shipper who wasn't open over the weekend or at craphole bethel pa terminal waiting to run relay into NYC/NJ for some driver who couldn't make it blah blah whatever, thanks we owe you. Ya right. Had to fight getting hometime. Get home late, then have them calling bothering me to come back to work after 34hr even though I stayed out 3 weeks and had 3 full days of hometime. Low CPM rate, talked down to by everyone except 1out of the 4 dispatcher, I had in 12months. Other than that it was a great learning experience. On the very day my contract was up I sent Qualcomm message resigned and turned truck in @ vandaila terminal had terminal manager sign off stating I returned truck in decent clean shape with no damage, took pictures of said truck and they still have me crap over it. Long story short moved on to bigger and better things

So HAPPY I didn't pay attention to this when I was looking for a job! There are so many jobs out there... Many at the top. And you can get them. Apply!

Do you know what top companies have in abundance, mentors to pull you under their wing and help you along the way. People who care that you are successful so the company can be successful.

Managers that give you a chance because, hey someone needs to fill that seat! Don't settle. Never settle.
