I agree with legalizing hemp use . There are many legal products people can get high on . Should they ban spray paint or glue because people sniff it ?

And a company could refuse to hire you even if what you do is legal in a commercial vehicle. If a company refused to hire cigarette smokers and fired the ones they had it would be perfectly within their right.

I know of a number of companies that use hair drug screening to further qualify their potential employees including drivers.
Companies are free to be more stringent in their screening processes as long as they also perform the required DOT screening. -
In 11 pages of discussion no one has suggested that it should be ok to smoke pot while operating a commercial vehicle. -
How do any of us know the guy in the next lane has gotten "enough" rest to not drive impaired? They may have taken the required 10 hrs off, but not slept a wink. Aren't these drivers just as, if not more dangerous than the guy this thread centers around?
Just my 2 cents on that, The apps I've filled out have THAT question on it. then ask when for last use if answered in the affirmative. Job Placement at my school was adamant about answering this question a particular way.
I would tend to think being honest with future prs[ective employers is the only way to go. Perhaps a smaller outfit that would appreciate the honesty.
Having O/O as an option , whats the worst that can happen being honest going forward? They say no? -

The problem i see, is we have too many ######### who don't take driving trucks very seriously. Want to have a beer, wait till you get home, want to smoke a joint, do it when you get home. You have no business driving something that is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, not to mention the damage one of these things could do. If you hinder your ability to drive these things in the slightest it can have devastating consequences. Why they started restricting how long you can drive for, people running 16, 18 hours straight falling asleep at the wheel.
Just because something is legal, doesn't mean it's the most responsible thing to do. People need to use their brains more, start thinking in more responsible ways. People now, want a quick buck and these trucking companies are pushing through very unqualified people who don't have the responsibility capacity to be driving these things. Sorry but your not working at Mcdonalds, You put everyone's lives at risk when you are driving, and if your not capable of driving without the help of drugs or alcohol, then you have no business driving, go back to asking which value menu someone wants, leave the responsbility of this caliber to those able to handle it. -
