I really can't believe we're having this conversation. Listen, federal law enforced by dot says we can't be under the influence or have traces that we were, of drugs and alcohol. We can bicker back and forth forever about whether the government has the right to do that or not but they will still do it. No other professional is limited on the amount of hours they're aloud to work either. If you want to limit the reach of the governments hand than vote using your head. But that's a subject for a different thread.

Well, with all do respect... You aren't being forced to participate LoL.

Isn't this forum for discussing Trucking related topics? This is a big topic in the industry.

why is this directed at newbies and wannabees? While I can see your point....and I totally agree with it....I would also add that while you are talking about following rules, I see more old timers breaking rules than I do newbies, especially when it comes to HOS and their "funny" log books.

Your right! It should be if your caught with pot the fine is $10000.00 per oz. If the fine for having dyed fuel is $1500.00 per gallon of fuel tank size (or what ever it is) then pot should be 10 times higher.
The same old pot smokers argument.

So you missed American history week in Social Studies while in high school? You not totally "free" to do as you please, never have been, never will be.

Just go google the statistics on annual alcohol related deaths in this country vs. marijuana related deaths and let us know if anything looks interesting or jumps out at you. Thanks for all the obnoxious assumptions about my past study habits and current personal habits though. I appreciate that!

O.K. , back your statement up with verified instances of old timers breaking rules . I'll start making notes on all the BFI newbies I see speeding and tailgating to keep their DM's happy or get enough miles to survive at $.25 a mile .

Not to get too far off topic, but yeah, chances are if you've been taught how to color your logbook, it wasnt by the new guys or your company's training department. We've all met "those guys" who think they've earned the right to not play by the rules any longer when it comes to HOS and log booking. Sets a bad example at the very least, even if they're never caught or called on it.

    lol.

I am not gonna get in a P###ing contest with you. It is my personal observation.

A simple google search will yield you tons of information on "experienced" drivers breaking the rules, just as it will yield tons about "new" drivers breaking the rules.

If you will notice, I agreed with the original post, but pointed out that it is NOT just new drivers doing it.
