I was looking at projected career growth statistics today and truck driving is projected to grow significantly in the upcoming years. That's good news I think. More demand for drivers!
Anyway, that got me to thinking and I have a question for the more experienced folk here. In your observation, how long does it take to weed out the real drivers from the folks that thought they wanted to, but really didn't? If a person lasts 1 year, does that mean they will probably make it? Six months? Just kind of curious how long it usually takes to weed out the non-truckers. Based on others observations! What's your observation?
Thanks, as always!!

IMO, 6 months. Assuming you have or can quickly acquire the required skill-sets, most of the variables revolve around the specific family situations. Assuming the typical beginning OTR/regional job with mega-carrier, those with wife/kids at home quit sooner than those with no family ties.

I agree about 6 months.

I hated the OTR side of trucking. Being away from the wife and home 25 days a month, pretty much a 24 hour a day job, never knowing what you had to do next, or when it needed to be done...
But I had no other options that would pay as well with only 4 weeks of school.
MikeeeeFreddie Thanks this.
