You just gotta decide how far you are willing to drive to get to the terminal, then pick a company that has a terminal within that distance.

You can consider how long you plan to stay out and then go from there. I stay out 3-7 weeks at a time. Then i commute home from Dallas to north Austin.. About 3 hours. The commute at that distance once a month or once every other month is negligible. Thats why you see job ads to companies not necessarily in Columbus. Commuting longer distances is common because you are not doing it every day.

That's really important. Assess the transportation costs from anywhere USA to your home on your own. Have that funding ready in your pocket and a valid card with that much or more line.

Orientation does NOT mean it's a done deal. Look at someone wrong and boom yer kicked out the gate without so much as by your leave.

Google is fine for general information on trucking companies, but to get into the details for your area, this forum has the best information. Contact all those companies I listed and you'll get great job offers.
Freymiller has an average of over 1000 miles for each haul, but you won't see that on Google or Indeed.

ffe comes up because they did have a might have a terminal there now , but they have local frieght all over ohio so you could get a local/ regional gig with them . but several companies have terminals there and spring field it depends on what you want to do but theres not to many better places to live than Columbus for driving jobs . I would recommend checking out all those first there are a few with schools in Columbus area . werner has local runs with bud . ups frieght has auto zone in delaware . first fleet has krogers plenty more , yellow road way did open up a training program in Columbus. even if you decide that you want to go all over and do otr I would suggest going with a local company or a national company that has a footing local y because things Change and you may end up wanting local work

Depending on the company they will let you take the truck home with you so you don’t necessarily need a terminal near by. Columbus is a good area so you have lots of options.

Don't need a resume; fill out the application on the websites. If the company wants any more information, they'll let you know.

As long as you're going OTR. There are probably many companies who hire in Ohio. That's the question. Their hiring area. Can they get you home for home time? That's the question. They'll answer it quickly.
I live in South Dakota. Work for a company based in North Dakota. But most used terminal is in Minnesota. A I love going to Texas. :)
Oh... my company will hire you in Ohio. No problem. I go through Ohio alot. People in that area know coffee. Good dark coffee.
