Ok, so I am new to this forum. Even though I have been reading post for over a month now, here is my confusion. *and sorry if this has been answered before...way to many post to read).
Ok, I currently have my Class B, wanting to go back to school for class A. School here in Sevierville, TN (Near Knoxville) cost $4,000 but according to the states web site has a 100% placement.
Then I see there are several companies that will train you, such as CR England. However, I was told by many to stay away from them.
So the question is, do I spend my entire savings account on school and try to get hired by Crete or one of the others that comes to the school, or do I find a trucking company that trains you themselves? If the latter is suggested, which companies do I try? Thank you all!

Most everyone here is going to tell you to go to a private school and avoid the mega carrier training. I went to the latter and dont regret it. The first year they deduct it from your checks but if you stay a second year they start paying that back to you. This is through swift.

once you get a driving job, will you be saying to your boss, "hey, too many guys gave me directions, but there were too many to read, can YOU give me directions, so i don't have to read them all"...??? -
I recommend a local community college for the reason below...

It's like anything else in life, you are going to get what you put into it and if it sounds to good to be true it is! What happens when you buy cheap crap instead of the more pricey real deal? Don't fall for the mega-carriers! Find a decent smaller company that is going to treat you like a human being and cares to see you succeed. A good rule of thumb is to look into the companies that are doing a lot of advertising. They may have a lower turnover rate which means their drivers are happier working for them. Any company that has to spend millions of dollars in advertising to get you to work for THEM should be a red flag!
Good luck to you.
