OK, So I have many years experience with tractors & trailers, bobtails, doubles, tripples, fire trucks and so on that generally required me to drive 500+ miles per day. Not much of that is within the past few years because of the economy. Hazmat hauling has been the focus because it's needed to sustain life.

My wife has experience that ended in 1999 driving Pete & KW tow trucks - No CDL was required.

We are at the stage in life where we want to be together OTR, but it's tough to find the right company. Plus, due to the age of our experience, she's probably going to have to go through school and I might be stuck with a partner other than her for a while.

We've selected a tractor and are pertnear close to launching once she finishes her CDL. I think she can test through so it's aggrevating to both of us that we might both have to be set with someone else for days on end when we're ready to go.

We'll have our family critters with us and we're both more than ready to make this work.

    What suggestions can ya'll offer?

Thanks and frustrated - trying not to get down and out.

You might consider expediting ( Panther , FedEx Custom Critical ) . They usually need tractors and you'll get far more respect there . You might also see if FedEx Ground needs a team in your area .

Thanks RickG. Any idea on pay? We're obviously way heavy in research mode having been disappointed with some replies we've seen.

Things are about 20% slower than they were last year including expediting . In a recent newsletter FedEx Custom Critical gave drivers a list of over 100 brokers they could use to find backhauls . If you contact the FedEx Custom Critical recruiter she will send you printouts showing the average income , miles driven , and percent availability for every class of truck last year .

Thanks again RickG. I'll do some research over the internet to locate the proper contact information.

If anyone else has information, feel free to fire it over.
