    Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Feel free to get a laugh out of my ignorance of the industry.
My husband and I would like to do class B hauls as our job. Our son would ride along. We want to only drive in the summer months when son's school is out. The winter months we would like to have enough savings to not have to work.
We both used to be school bus drivers and we both currently work in retail.
Hit me with the truth. Don't hold back.
    Where should we start?
I wonder if being self employed would be best to accomplish goals?
How can I trust my broker? Who should broker be?
Should we strictly manage our own insurance and dot expenses or should we let a company help us.
You might be thinking this is a bad idea for my family, if so please share why. If you think we could be successful offer advise please.
    Many thanks,
    HappyMom

In the three months that you would work as a team in something like expedite you would have to work for an owner and you would not make enough in that three months to carry you over the rest of the year.

The market is saturated with b drivers, the expedite market is competitive and has rates that are undervalued, and everyone else who can work year round is trying to capture that money.

Seriously, go back to driving a bus, then be off for the summer!

Unless you get on with an expediting company as a 1099, and then try to survive on the 3 months you think you'll only have to work for the rest of the year. You will sit waiting for a load, and as you sit, the work clock speeds by you, making you zero dollars, but costing you money instead.

I wish you well, and I can see that 3 hours passed since you got the first response and nary a word from you since then.

    Wannabe a happy mom..??

stay at home and work a real job all year long, Wait till you retire then do as you wish.

    TruckDuo Thanks this.
