Hello I am in my last week of training and I am a free agent. I live in Texas and am looking for a company to work for where I can be home every weekend if not every other weekend and maybe some through the week. I do not want to pull doubles or triples I know triples are not legal in Texas but they are in other states. I am looking for one with decent pay and good benifits.

Same song, I've lost count of the verses!!! It's really getting old when people keep coming on here posting, "I've just started trucking school.." or "I just got my CDL..." and want to know where to work so they can be home all the time. Don't you think that there are dozens if not hundreds of us experienced drivers that would like that kind of hometime as well??? If you use the 'Search' function at the top of the page you will find where this has been answered at least every other week.

This is something that you should have thoroughly researched before starting school. The jobs are available, but are not easy to find, plus you are wishing for the Trifecta, hometime, pay, & benefits!!

You can try oil fields (you will need tanker endorsement & they tend to work 16hr days, no overtine), dump truck, sanitation truck, cement truck, etc.

What you have to understand is you need to pay your dues first. It is rare the new CDL grad comes out of school and gets what you are asking right off the bat. Get on with a company, drive for a while and move up. Or like trkrshoney said, check the oilfields. Most companies aren't going to give a new driver everything off the bat, especially great pay AND home time. Simply having a CDL isn't paying your dues. You have to prove yourself to the companies and the only way to do that is through experience.

Do your own research on the subject, then come back online to ask. Being in Texas may allow several oppurtunities

don't beleive the myth you HAVE to go otr first. there are alot of drivers who never done otr. there are local comapnies that'll hire you. you just have to put the legwork in. try coca cola, pepsi, food distribution co. you might luck out. good luck

Oh I know that the myth is a myth for a reason. I am also looking local and like I said I didn't mean to step in toes I was just trying to do some more research who better to find out about companies than people who had experience with them now I know that some people just like to be jerks on here

FFE is a good company in Texas; they have reefer & tanker.
Check Careerbuilder website & it will show everything you're interested in.
Don't worry, you will be surprised at what's available for you.

Check pantherexpedite website & see what's available in Texas.
