STERLING - A trucker who was found slumped over the wheel of his semi truck Saturday night at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center died of an apparent heart attack, Whiteside County Coroner Joe McDonald reported Monday.

Arthur Stanley Harvey Sr., 67, whose last know address was in San Bernadino, Calif., was discovered shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday after delivering freight to the distribution center on the west end of Sterling.

The Whiteside County Sheriff's Department is still attempting to contact Harvey's next of kin in California.

STERLING The family of a California truck driver who died behind the wheel of his parked semi Saturday at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center has been found.

An autopsy conducted Monday concluded that Arthur Stanley Harvey Sr., 67, of Upland, Calif., died of an apparent heart attack, Whiteside County Coroner Joe McDonald said.

Harvey was an independent driver who owned his own rig. Medical information found in the cab of his truck indicated that he had a history of heart problems.

After unloading his freight, Harvey pulled away from the dock, got his paperwork together and went back to his truck. Another truck driver found him shortly after 5 p.m., slumped over the wheel.

Local authorities had some difficulty reaching Harveys next of kin, in part, because his commercial drivers license had not been updated in nearly 2 years, and indicated that he still lived in San Bernardino, Calif., McDonald said.

However, through what McDonald called good detective work, by the Whiteside County Sheriffs Department and a series of phone calls made through his office, they were able to reach Harveys son Monday night in Upland.

The family is making arrangements to fly the body back to California.

There's always a little insight to every story.

Usually poor reporting glares at you. But in this case, I believe there is more to this story. And the reporter, not having a few minor details, missed a real story.

Wal-Mart policy, is to BAN any driver who pulls away from the dock prior to getting his paperwork. Even if he has a green light.

Wal-Mart would have been all over this guy, had he pulled away from the dock before getting his paperwork. At least that has been the policy at the DC's I've delivered to.

So this adds a question to the story. Was the heart attack a direct result of a DC employee and an arguement with said driver?
