It seems as I get a bit older, and particularily when I'm a bit tired, the glare of night lights bothers me more than it used to when I'm driving. I've been thinking that there may be some benefit to wearing night driving glasses. Does anyone use them and if so what has been your experience?

There are 2 trains of thought about this. Your Doctors and mine :biggrin_25525:

Your Doctor will recommend polarized lens, which reduce the "star" effect of oncoming lights.

These lens display a gradient tint, darker at the top.

I went with an amber/yellow lens. These serve another purpose, increased contrast/brightness on overcast days.

I can wear the yellow lens 24/7, with few problems. Other than the funny looks I get from other people. But I did purchase a second set with clear lens.

If it's a simple relieving of eye strain, go with the polarized. If you can afford it, and desire the higher contrast in late evening/night/cloudy days...pop for 2 sets, one yellow the other clear.

Additionally, get the progressive lens... MUCH MUCH better than bi-focals for driving.

You might look into increasing, carefully increasing, your intake of Vitamin A (retinol). Beware, Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin. Stay within recommended allowances!
