Yes i do work for tmc and run a daycab in the nyc area. However i did luck into that truck as i was otr and the guy running the truck i have now had heart problem. I just happened to be close enough to get on that account. I rarely tarp now because im hauling shingles in plastic bundles but overall we tarp about 60% of all the loads tmc carries. There is dedicated outta buchanan, ny but its drywall so its always tarped and the o/p is probally to far away to get on that account. A lot of places will lift your tarps up with the lift, some have racks which drape the tarp over but you still gotta do it yourself time to time. Steel tarps are about 80# and lumber tarps weigh about 130#. At tmc you can get home every weekend for the most part but it isnt a given. Now im assuming your going to school at smith and soloman in cherry hill, i went to the new castle, de campus. Talk to the cordinator there to see what company might fit for you. There are a lot of containers moving on the pike. The equip probally will suck, pay isnt great but it is mostly driving and waiting. I think jb hunt and schineder move alot of them from the ports/railyards to where ever. The nyc area is a big $ zone as far as freight rates. You could do well and being from jersey you should be used to the traffic and type of drivers we have.
