Not really a question just a small vent. I arrived a day early to this Kraft and they didn't have another empty trailer for me which is a first. So I waited until the next day hoping one would be available around my appointment time and nope. So I asked when they could unload my trailer so I could leave and no one knew. I kept checking every hour or two on the status and then brokers and my dispatcher kept asking me what is taking so long as I had an important load at my second destination.

Then Kraft tells me to wait until tomorrow to unload me so I am just parked on the shoulder of this dead end road in front of the building for over 40 hours now and hope to be gone by tomorrow. I am not really mad or bored though, I am managing to watch a lot of movies and chat with friends so I am actually enjoying this break. It just sucks that I could have already been on my third load by now.

I do not know how you van and reefer guys deal with that BS. It seems appointment times mean nothing. My freind who runs van gos through it weekly. The lost revenue from waiting and XXXXXXX around with the shippers and recievers BS is insane.

So how much are they paying you to wait/detention?

Then there's the wild goose chases running around all over a given market trying to beat other drivers to the same supposed available MT ... and perhaps literally having to get into a fight if you both pull up to the MT at the same time (and this happens more often than you'd think at large carriers). Then having to make sure your Dm get's the correct miles added to your next load to account for running all over the state. I quit a large company because this was almost a weekly event as their trailer:tractor ratio was very bad for doing lots of d/h's throughout their system.

Shippers and receiver often use carrier trailers to "hold" inventory so that it doesn't have to be inventoried and taxed (if it's not in their facility, it's not counted)

A carrier with their financial act together would charge for storage in transit, but this is just another freebie they give away in hopes of keeping the customer happy.

I take it then, that you are not at the Kraft off Schantz Rd in Allentown,PA??

Cuz if you were, there is a WAWA at the corner with truck parking, shower and a real GREAT deli counter, and a coffee pot counter nearly as long as your trailer!!!

But this is trucking, hurry up and wait, be a roving warehouse.

Why not drop the sucker and bobtail to another location to grab an mt?

Don't know who you drive for, but all the big outfits can and do track their equipment and should be able to locate an MT.

Even if it's a hundred miles or more - DH still better than the lost production of you being down for 40 hrs - unless you were due for a reset?
