Thats crap......as someone allready stated your leaving proly a few qts in the housing. Plus the mag plug will catch pieces from a potential issue.
I'm gonna start looking, dont recall seeing any without them. Plugs are cheap. If you plan on keeping the truck, I would put them in, just for convenience.
No drain plug

How? Drill and tap? That’s a lot of drilling.
-
Yes. The housing is only 1/4 thick. Your biggest hurdles would be finding a large bit to fit the tap size. The other would be getting her high enough off the ground to get a 1/2" size drill under the housing. Should be a fairly simple task for any well equipped truck shop.
Plugs size is 3/4" NPT.
Pipe Tap & Die Set, 6 Pc.
Your biggest cost would be a good drill bit if you couldnt beg, borrow or steal one....... -
Well, people dont do maintenance, so why do more work making a part so people can do the maintenance?....

Mercedes does the same thing with engine oil. No drain plug. Must vacuum the old oil out via the fill tube.

50k mile grease jobs probably have something to do with it lol. Back when the old man owned trucks I'd be under them every weekend with a grease gun. Those u-joints rarely went over 3,000 kilometers without being greased lol.slim shady Thanks this.
