I was hearing that Melton has driver facing cameras, and they are on even when they are suppose to be off and there has been some scandals with that. I know some people just like to complain and are trouble makers, so maybe he is one of those I don't know.

I have a bachelor's degree too, so maybe I should do the Top Gun program?
-
If you do their "Top Gun" class...& then go out on a trainer's truck -- your learning curve will be flatter....especially with backing up.

Schneider offers nothing like that (nor do most other beginner fleets).

-- LConcorde Thanks this. -
Cameras are rolling 24/7…all cameras
They only save video when there’s an event.
Simply put, if they weren’t on all the time they wouldn’t be able to see what happened prior to the event..like if the driver was picking their nose
hope not dumb twucker Thanks this. -
sheet.. you got a BS just go to Swift Air..Top Gun class 4 sure

Walk Among Us and Numb Thank this. -
This could easily be your first job and your last in the same week . Alaska runs are not for the faint of heart .lual Thanks this.

Should I go with Swift over some small company? Like May Trucking Company? May Trucking seems like they may have shorter training and it can be hit or miss though.
-
I trust Swift drivers way more than CREngland or Super Ego.

Swift....over smaller carriers?
Absolutely!
Why?
Several reasons....
- More freight. As the world of freight tightens up -- you wanna be where there's more freight being moved. Swift's got it -- plain & simple.
- More freight types. Bored or fed up with the reefer world? With Swift -- you can switch over to dry van...or even flatbed -- & without the hassles/headaches of changing employers. It just makes better business sense -- especially for a rookie driver.
- More terminals/dropyards. As a new driver -- finding safe, legal parking at the end of each shift will soon be one of your biggest problems. Swift has more terminals (& dropyards) for parking...in more locations...than those smaller fleets.
- The "Top Gun" driving school option. We already discussed that.
- Self-insured. As a new driver, if you have a bad day...& do something stupid you are much less likely to be fired with a self-insured fleet, like Swift.
- Nearby terminal. Having a terminal near where you live...especially during your home time...will offer you some advantages & conveniences....that the smaller fleets can't match.
Think about it....
