I went to the toy store yesterday. Played with a couple of GPS. All Garmin.

Watched a couple of them "crash" due to memory not being available. While others just could not pull up the directions fast enough. All the while, I was having trouble typing in the touch screens. Face it, you have 3-4 inches of screen and use half of it for the entire alphabet. And you expect me to actually get it right? And I don't have exceptionally large fingers!!

Decided to hell with it, bought another Gig of RAM for my laptop.

    Here's what I want in a GPS.

At least 8 inches of screen.
    1 Ghz minimum processor speed.
Enough memory to handle the route.
    Multi stop options in routing.
Manual Zoom in and OUT features.

    What I don't NEED in a GPS.

Mp3 storage and playback. I have XM and an I-pod.
Capable of watching a DVD on the screen. I actually drive said vehicle.

These options are good for dummies. But are not practical to the professional driver.

Anyone know where I can find one of these at??

If I had a laptop I would get a Co-Pilot or software for truckers. But since I don’t, I’m fixing to buy a Garmin tomorrow. Found nuvi 260 for U$ 100.00 cheaper than nuvi 350 and it doesn’t have all those bells and whistles that I don’t need anyway. They seem very similar and speak the name of the street, which I like. My only doubt is about the acquisition times, satellite speeds. Couldn’t find any info on 260. I know that 350 has 20 channels satellite receiver and 260 seems to have 12 channels, so it’s still high-sensitivity, as they call. None have dead reckoning. I read good and bad reviews on both. Can anybody share some opinion on Garmin 260 and its performance? Thx.

The thing I like about my garmin is mostly for ETA's on the quallcomm. After I load and get ready to send my loaded call I don't have to guesstimate my ETA. I look at the GPS add for load checks, fuel, time changes and send the info. The other day I was following company directions. Turn left on 20th street. Problem was 20th street was closed. I went on up and turned left later and was calculating by the directions I had looking for the next street in my directions to turn the opposite way to get back on track. Problem was it was no trucks. Started following the GPS and it walked me right in to the place.
