Landstar gives drivers 4 very thin squares of plexiglass JUST small enough to fit inside the holders... slide in the placard then slide in the plexiglass... the wind and rain can't get in to pull the placard out

Less than 25.1 pounds of pressure and a relief valve and all you need is a CDL with tanker endorsement.
Buried in the cryogenic regulations. Still has to have the 1977 orange plackard.
Dont seem right but its in the book.viper822004 Thanks this. -
Shipper is required, by law, to provide you with the placards to define the shipment.
Can you haul Hazmat?
If you have a license to haul Hazmat you can answer that question.
It's a simple answer to a simple question, are you qualified?North Pole Nightmare Thanks this. -

While this is true, I have been to a few shippers who did not have the placards. At that point, you either a.) go get the placards yourself and bring them to your hopefully by then loaded trailer or b.) reject the load and find another one. Obviously, if the pay is good, you will likely end up taking option a.North Pole Nightmare Thanks this.

Table 1 categories is what gets drivers in trouble example .. Dangerous When Wet any amount has to be placard

An empty gasoline trailer requires maintaining the placards until it is cleaned and purged of gasoline vapor; this statement is incorrect!Boardhauler, Feedman, homeskillet and 1 other person Thank this.

If the pay on a hazmat load is not good then you should reject the load just for that. The shipper not having the proper placards just gives you an extra reason to fall back on.

Definitely incorrect.
I used to pull for Fed Ex and many times I had declared haz mat in the trailer, but less than 500lbs so I didn't need placards or a haz mat endorsement. Just had to have it labeled on the BOL.
It became very often later on, since the batteries in cell phones are considered haz mat when there are enough of them. That's what fed ex told me, anyway.Last edited: Nov 22, 2023
Trucker61016, Feedman and KDHCryo Thank this. -
depends on the hazmat... I had to argue with fedex that I needed placards for less than 1 lb.Feedman Thanks this.
