alright guys, I'm a little worried about going to sleep and not waking up due to truck power shutting off the Webasto heater. Woke up today freezing.

Also truck will only idle 5 minutes max.

    Any advice?

Id refuse to drive till the problem is fixed. I am sure it qualifies as unsafe working conditions. Use Qualcom or text messaging to report and request the repairs. Probably just needs new batteries. If they fire you should be an easy win for you.
Are you saying if you apply trailer brakes only it will still shut down?

I'd bet this driver works for large outfit (swifty,jb ,Schneider etc...) and it has auto shut off to stop idling.

Yep, auto shutoff every 5 minutes, you won! I work for The Mega (as of this writing, that is, that all could change is an hour).

Many of these companies have it set that if you are waiting for a train with your foot on the brake even, it will shut off at 4 minutes.

Schneider does that. Their idle timer isn't bypassed by the truck having the parking brake released, which to me is madness.

My company has idle timers, but they are defeated and the engine will run until the fuel runs dry by either bumping the cruise to activate the PTO setting (Volvo and Detroit engines) or feathering the throttle when the idle shutdown warning pops up on the vehicle message center (Cummins ISX).

Our policy on idling is simply minimizing it whenever possible. Don't leave the engine running if you are inside the truckstop watching TV in the lounge or taking a shower. The Teletracs message/GPS unit will automatically send a message about idling but that's only if the system shows that the truck has idled more than 10 hours in one shot or your fuel economy drops below 6.5 mpg. No penalty, no lecture, just a friendly reminder to minimize idling.
