So I work for the Big Blue Screw. They are taking out my broken ClimaCab and making it idle only over 75 or under 25. They are putting in a sensor to detect the exterior temperature. I am of the mind if I put a match to it, or a hair dryer, or lighter and make it think its 200 degrees when I want to idle the truck it should idle. So my question is where is the temperature sensor for the no idle override? The truck is a 2010 Peterbilt.....

    Werner?
    Couldn't reccomend screwing with it.
Maybe if you can make it register warmer than it really is.

Exsaclty! If I use a match or lighter and fool the thermostat she should run. I will look in the mirror and see if its there.

What's your issue with this? Consider yourself fortunate they don't let you idle, period. I assume you have a bunk heater, fall will be here soon. I'm not sure where the sensor is but I feel pretty sure it has nothing to do with the temp sensor that indicates your outside temp in the mirror or dash. Deal with it or walk. Companies who do not provide APU's need to be shown the door, anyway.

LOL, my issue is if I want to idle the truck I want to idle, & if I can outsmart the system I will. And I have 5 months 3 days left before I can walk. In the meantime if I can burn company fuel and thumb my nose at environmentalists while staying cold (as 75 is too hot for me) all @ the same time I consider myself ahead of the game.

i was in a rental truck one time that had the auto shut off... set trailer brakes and hang out, the truck will think you are sitting in traffic

How do I "hang it out"? Just leave it in gear?

No.... You.don't sent your tractor brakes. Only trailer... However, that's usually programmed to. My truck shuts down after 5 mins if idle and absolutely no way to bypass it or trick it. If the tractor brakes are released then it will idle for 15 minutes then shut down.

I have a APU though so it doesn't matter.
