Thats what gets me all the time, the humidity. It prevents sweating from properly cooling you, so you get even hotter.

Smelly gross truck drivers dont smell because they cant idle.. they smell thay way cause they are too lazy to leave the comfort of their idling trucks to go shower or even go to the restroom...
I wasnt able to serve my country because I broke my back when I was 16 in a rock climbing accident... if I had not broke my back I most certainly would of served... and, even though I may have a valid reason for not serving I still feel bad.. I come from a military family and grew up a military brat... I did join the volunteer core in college and got to grow and build character by going to third world countries and helping to build and work in clinics..
Personally, I feel that everyone should serve at least a year or two in the service or in a volunteer core.. it makes you a stronger person inside and out, grateful and proud to be an American and it teaches to deal with things as apposed to just whine and complain ...
Over idling is a waste of fuel and revenue and is harmful to the environment... yes, when temperature is fridged or when extremely hot.. then yes idle what you need to... but also, tough it up a bit... you dont need to idle when it is 40 degrees out just to have your heater on while you lay in your bunk in boxer shorts watching tv.. you can dress warmer.. same is true when it is 70 degrees or 80 degrees... you can dress cooler and use fans...
I do believe there are other drivers like me who are conscientious about over idling for efficiency and for the environment... not to the mention the fact that I enjoy getting the added bonuses on my pay check for fuel efficiency and inot over idling... I would rather that money go in my pocket than in the tank...
Also, as I gain experience and build my resume.. maybe being able to show them my performance record and how effeciently I run.. that may give me the edge of getting on with a good carrier.. every week I record and take a picture of my performance... so, I can show a prospective employer how I roll..Last edited by a moderator: Apr 16, 2014

Give me a break.all you macho men that run there fingers about how tough they are, are the first to cry when they ac breaks.
I for one will admit it, when my ac breaks get it fixed pronto. The boss will make sure the one in the office keeps working. I'm not doing without for the company.
Believe me you are expendable to them, they are not going to give you anything for putting up with bad conditions.in the end you do not matter, there are hundreds lined up to take your place and the company will probably not remember your name, so why suffer for them. Get real.TwinStickPeterbilt Thanks this. -

It's not the point of it being a little bit of "tough it out". It is the point of having the modern technology to do something about it, but not being able to use it. If it's 85 degrees and I'm hot and have an air conditioner, I can do something about it. I've spent time in a foxhole, and if there would have been an air conditioner I would have turned it on!
If your sitting at the truck stop and need to call the customer do you walk down the street to a pay phone? No you pick up your cell phone.
PS. If you think the company installed an apu for your comfort, ummmm no. -

as a student driver with no experience yet with a company. This is one of my requirements for me in a outfit. Im not working for a company that doesn't equip an APU on their trucks. My father had one and I swear that thing could freeze the interior of a truck when you could fry an egg on the road outside
