Ok so it's beginning to get pretty cold, and I started thinking, I know a lot of companies have no idling policies and states have laws and stuff, but if its as friggin cold as it is, how can a person seriously tell you that you can't have heat in your truck for the night? are trucks warm enough without having the heat going?

In Cali there are CARB Nazis driving around (adding to a large carbon footprint as well....go figure) truck stops and rest areas (those that are still open...as few as they have become) to cite drivers for idling....

In TX, a few counties/cities are doing the same...TX is from April 1- Oct 31 IIRC......

    Now here's the trick.....

Park in the hinterlands during the winter and idle away....CARB Nazis are afraid of the deep dark wilderness....

For summer....park between two running reefers...aka "Reefers in stereo"...
The CARB Nazis can't discern the difference between a reefer engine and a truck engine......

    As far as insulation goes....
    The new rigs are better.....
My '97, once it gets below 30*..It becomes a walk in freezer...
    Over 85*...a sauna of death.....

They can because they made it a law. ##### slap every single liberal you know, its their fault.

If its 5 degrees F outside, and your truck has been sitting with the engine off for 8 hours, I can pretty much guarantee you its 5 degree F inside your sleep bunk. Does that answer your question sufficiently?

In the NE is where most states have idle laws. Once the temp drops they don't really enforce them though.

i figured that. its just hard for me to grasp the fact that they dont care that truck drivers can actually possibly freeze to death in their trucks... unbelievable. and yes it did answer my question thank you

In Cali..it doesn' matter if it's freezing or baking...No Idling.....
I have even heard the CARB Nazis have shut down drivers who idle for their CPAPs.......Hence the name "CARB Nazis".....

I had heard that Cali has a problem with APU's now and want to outlaw them as well, any truth to that or is it just another trucker story ??

I flat out refuse to go anywhere near that state wish others would do the same !!
