Depending on what size power brick you have for your laptop, I would suggest double the output for it and add anything else you may plug in at the same time. I say double the wattage because of surges and spikes. This is especially true when you start dealing with gaming/high performance laptops, as the graphics cards kick on and off, generate heat, kicks on fans, etc... But if you have a basic 60W or 95W power brick, a decent 300W inverter should be enough for your needs.

I have something similar to this one. I say this because the inverters that put the fuse into the plug tend to be on the cheap side. I had one that after about an hour of it being plugged in I smelled plastic. The plug started to melt. Come to find out I had some electric issues in that truck, but still not a good thing to smell.

No i inverters allowed as a company driver. I used onone thats hooks to cig outlet. Put it away when i do t use it. Swift never looked in truck for one. Not sure if the swift shop does
. But i never seem them do it.. p.s. they will allow one for sleep apnea machines but shop has to install it.

I'm gonna third Pattyj's claim. Bought a cheap no name inverter from Walmart in 2012 after the truck stop Cobra burned out after a year. Needless to say the $19.99 Investment is the last one I've bought and still running today. Good stuff

Work for a company that has APU's and then no worries about all this. This is 2017 so no reason to drive a bare bones truck.

Most drivers can t even take care of a bare boned truck. I would hate to see what happens if they are given a truck with SOME of the bells and whistles

You at Tidewater? My buddy was with Carry Transit in Decatur and dropped dead at a customer from massive heart attack, last year. Went to Huntsville hospital to help his wife take care of arrangements.

Plug in inverter will do. But if you get a 163xxx or above truck, at least the freightliners are all supposed to have 1500w inverters from the factory. And both my Kenworth and freightliner did on the reefer side. Volvo didn't but it was older.

When I switched to flatbed I was given a choice of manual or automatic, and I chose an older manual that didn't have the stupid onguard crap or lane control crap. But also no inverter. Only thing I used it for anyway was my guitar amp and laptop both are easily remedied.
