Lol I make 8$ an hour right now. I will take any salary but I had been told not to go Pam because the salary really was that awful.

Lol I am only 10 years in and when i started, i think i got 29 cents a mile. I was running so many miles that it didn't phase me much. Many new drivers go on like they cant gut out a year to get to greener pastures....hell even 6 months can open a few more doors these days. I always say stick it out a calendar year

yes, and i do fully understand, but what YOU NEED to understand is that, in many instances, it's short lived.

if you show willingness and good old fashion "gumption", the company(s) usually take care of you and give you the miles.

when ever i got hired, one of my first few comments to the person hiring was, "i'm here to earn money, not sit on my butt waiting for a load", and i proved that to them by always calling and bugging them that i was like only minutes away from being fully unloaded, where';s my next load.

i was always running, yes i sat a time or two, but i ran, i was not a truck stop trucker, meaning i passed by more truck-stops to get to where i was going.

rest and video games, were (to me) for the lazy ones. and those were the ones that always cried, they were not getting any miles.

Call Pam for yourself and talk to them. I've came across drivers who've done well at Pam. Every company has successes, and every company has failures. At least if you go through Driver Solutions, they'll put you to work, and it will be an opportunity to get practice. Something worth mentioning: check your career center and see if grants are available. I got 4000 dollars from the state of Tennessee to go through school. Then once I got started working, I paid the rest off. It's a little left work, but it's worth a look.

i was at .28¢ and back in the early/mid 90's, i ran 4 trips a week (on paper) from MA to Richmond, VA...that was "about" 3300 miles a week back then..for about $925, plus any drop off's along either way..of course, everything was ready at both ends, drop trailer, go to motel for 8, get new load, go back.

i just say it how it was done back in the day. drivers cry about no miles these days..yes, too many trucks in some concentrated areas, but you gotta make a pest of yourself, for the loads, even if it is a crap load, at least you're rolling to another area, where more loads should be available.

todays ELD's make it tougher, this i know, but one makes it tougher on himself if he just sits and waits for a call....

be proactive, and show them you wanna run.

Hell these days if I can squeak out 925 after taxes, child support, and insurance, I can work with that. Loyalty does pay off for real

Right. Folks have to understand too, that not every haul is going to be a long haul. I've had friends get so pissed about a short haul they'll sit and fuss, and lose time as opposed to just doing the job
