KW has had it for years. It's referred to as the "smart wheel" option.

  3. I wasn't clear. The Tupperware ProStar I have rented right now has a regular Eaton Fuller 10 speed. My tractor has a super 10. Before I bought it, I had no real experience with one. It took me long enough to complete my first short trip to learn that I hated that thing.

I decided that NO truck I ever bought would have a super 10, never ever again. I added to that absolute never list those idiotic steering wheel controls that are in the ProStar I have rented now. NO SUPER 10 and NO CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL!! Either one of those are instant deal breakers on any truck I'm looking at.

I was venting and didn't make that clear. Sorry.

  4. Yeah, my Dad's got a few T-600's with the Smart wheel. I don't like them, either, but at least on his the buttons are illuminated so that you don't have to hunt them. Also, the steering wheel and buttons on a KW are easily noticeable to me as being much better quality than that of the Fisher-Price like ProbeScar.

Also, you CAN (or at least, could) get a KW without that crap. I'm sorry, but I just can't figure out who's so #### lazy that they can't pry their pork pie fingers off of the steering wheel to reach a few mere inches to flip a switch on the dash.

It seems crazy to me, but like I said earlier, maybe I'm behind the times.

The buttons on the prostar wheel are illuminated, they adjust with the same switch that adjusts the backlighting on the gauges. Of course with Internationals wonderful attention to detail when you turn the backlighting up enough to see the buttons, the gauges are uncomfortably bright.

    SmartWheel
for people who are too dumb and lazy to reach for the switch on the dash.

  9. I think the company I'm leased to has a deal with them, but they charge me $75 per day plus .07 per mile. And you don't want to return the truck unless it's full. The sign up there today said they were charging $6.00/gallon.

It's not too bad a deal for me since I'm home every day, I don't have to deal with the logistics that many would trying to get all of their equipment where it's supposed to be. I make a little less money renting, but don't have down time without any revenue coming in.

I got my shaker back today, so I dropped off that pathetic excuse for a truck and don't have to get thrown all over the place and all best up to tonight. I'm pretty glad of that.

The ProStar averaged 5.4 mpg with me running 62-64 mph. My tractor gets 7 running like that. I'm not a fan of the EGR and DPF.

I saw a driver today who had a brand new '11 with the maxxforce no urea required engine. He said it was weak. The motor had compound turbos amongst a jumble of mess on that side of the engine. I pity the poor guy that has to run the overhead. I let him see mine for how a real truck and engine should be. You wasnt kidding about the pornstar instruments looking like a toyota celica lol.
