JUst in case your not awear of this?, you dont need to read the intire book, if your just going for a basic CDL, (no endorcements) you only need to study, combinations, air, general knowledge, thats of cource, if its still the same as when i did it some..... 23 years ago, but believe it is, had a friend get his CDL a couple of years ago, and thats all he needed for a class A CDL

So you're just gonna give your rig a quick walk by and hop in and go? Ok, good luck with that. Knowing how many reflective triangles to carry isn't going to keep you out the breakdown lane is it?

Thanks everyone :) I created this topic while my printer was spitting pages nonstop so I was getting pissed lol. When I actually read it, I am happy to see that I already know most of the stuff from back in the days when I used to work on my own 4 wheeler truck and even bought the factory manual to learn all of the different parts and replace them.

So I recognize what most of the parts of the truck are already. I used to be a crane operator at the 12 hour factory job I had out of high school and I always did well with inspecting it and checking off the checklist so that is something I already have experience in. Oh yeah, and this CDL threw me off as well since I took a practice test online a few days ago (only missed four questions without even studying, just knew most of the stuff already) so I was expecting maybe a 20 page manual at the most.

It's pretty much like anything else. It looks a lot harder than it is once you get into it. And a lot of people just psyche themselves out on tests anyway.
