- Got my cdl to drive flatbed loads for a hardware store and have yet to deliver a single piece of lumber let alone be road tested been stuck in a bow truck delivering appliances so its time to look elsewhere... A little background I'm 47 married with 4 kids my wife told me to go drive and make some money ( everyone is OK with me doinget this ) What I'd like to know is who's hold I work for I don't want to switch from job to job I want a place that treats you good and pays good...

Your local Lowes delivery experience (regardless of type of equipment used) would not be considered experience in the trucking industry any way...if that was the initial route you planned to take.
I say keep the job and deal with it (with four kids)....or go to trucking school if you've got the time and money (with four kids). And.....stop having kids. -
I hope your kids are grown. If they are babies still, your spouse will feel dumped on chasing after 4 kids if you went over the road. You would be looking at a divorce before too many months.
I agree with White Dog, Lowes is not experience that could be used for OTR stuff. You might want to stay close to home. -

What part of Iowa are you in? Lots of companies hire out of Iowa. Decker is a good company with flatbed available in the Fort Dodge area.
