2008 Prostar ISX450
Sometimes it will work for a 10 minutes and thats all.
I took it to the T/A to get an A/C service.
After checking the pressure he claims the compressor did turn on at 310 and turned off. He said sometime the sensors go bad that are located near the lower intake valve. However he doesn't know.
The tech put a test light on it and there is no power to the compressor. I checked all fuses and breakers. He doesn't and I don't know what the problem could be other than try and trace wires looking for a broken one. lol. Any Ideas ?
Thank you
NO power to my a/c compressor

You are totally wasting your time. Sorry to say, but this needs to go an International dealer. The A/C system is totally controlled by the International body controller. There is really nothing you can do to properly diagnose this without International software.
flatbed22 Thanks this. -
thanks, I have had ecm and tcm issues over the winter .
-
Probably not related. There are several body controller software updates that get released all the time. There was a big one just for the A/C a while back. I understand some people do not like dealers, but this is one case where you are kinda stuck going to one for this issue. If you do go, make sure they update your body controller.

I did notice. if I turn on the a/c before I start the truck. it will work for 10 minutes and shut off.
-
High pressure sensor could be a likely culprit. The body controller will monitor the a/c system pressure through the high pressure sensor. Once the pressure is about 300 psi it will tell the engine to turn the fan on. If the a/c pressure continues to rise over about 350 the body controller will log an a/c high pressure fault which will lock out the a/c operation until the next key cycle. Does your fan come on at all? If not, does your truck have a fan override switch, and if so does it work? I have seen where after trucks have been boosted to start some parameters for the engine get reset and the engine will actually ignore the fan on command from the body controller and cause issues like this.

I just tried it while parked. I started the engine and everything worked fine. it got cold and once it warmed a little the fan came on and it cooled down. lasted 15 minutes and stopped. Should I try replacing that sensor?
I really don't want to pay a dealer.
thanks -
Well, that is totally up to you. That is the only part you can replace without needing either an a/c machine or a laptop.
-
yea thank you. I'm buying it now. we'll see soon enough.

no go. I just switched it out. same deal. at least In know that much. it would have bothered me if I paid someone to do it. I will bring it in when I get home Tuesday.
I will post the fix.Heavyd Thanks this.
