Hey O/O, I am planning to buy this 07 Freightliner columbia 58'' sleeper that comes with apu. I have a question, does it really effect on your fuel MPG without having extended fairings on the both side of rear end. I am planning to pulled 53'' Dry van. I'd appreciated for some of opinions. Thank you:biggrin_25525:

The bolt holes are allready there ,You can buy them at J/yard and just bolt em on, it will help some pulling a van but you can CK. the mi. then put them on and see how much it helps?

It does. You save like 40 dollars a day. Roughly.

It does affect it about 1 to 2 percent. You have to keep the trailer pulled up pretty close to the cab to see a difference. If you plan to have someone install them or will not keep the truck over two years it will not pay.

Yeah they make a difference but not sure how much. I have no idea how much they cost to replace. If you haven't bought the truck and you must have that one then why not have the dealer put new fairing extenders on it as part of the deal?

Thanks for all your input. This truck is on sale from Ryder and has 689k miles for $34k. It's is 07 columbia w no emission regen system.
I called local freigtliner dealer and they said they do see the parts for that vin#.

I think you would be better off with this truck as it has no regen system. Dont worry about fairings.

Definitely go with truck without a regen system but this isn't the only truck out there without a regen. I am sure there is another Cascadia with fairings and similar specs. Buy what you want with the features you want. There are plenty of trucks out there.
