Somebody has to order these loads, right? So the production guys aren't keeping the purchasing guys informed on what they need and when. Seen that too many times myself

How about when you arrive at a plant to load, they check you in,put you at the loading rack and casually tell you the storagetank is empty.

So what's your pay deal in this situation ...?

    I'm sure it's not enough.

You know, something stinks there. I'd bet dollars to donuts there was PLENTY of room. Could be a multitude of reasons why they wouldn't let you unload. From issues with your carrier, to financial trouble within, to your wheels weren't shiny enough ( just kidding on that last one) but you get the idea. As my 1st boss said, "Tha's truckin'.

Dealt with those types of situations all the time hauling petroleum. Customer would order more than their tanks could hold. Mainly to try to take advantage if the price was up or down. Was such a headache. Always the same customers also. You knew the load wasn't going to fit when you loaded it.

That happens to me maybe once every couple months. Usually it's 8 hours or less, so I can roll with the paused clock. One time it took almost 24 hours, but there was a Pilot within a couple miles. It was the summer, so it would have sucked to not have a shower or bathroom for that time.

One receiver hogged up all my time and then kicked me out. That's not cool.

Those are the guys who ask "can you just fill me up and take the rest back?" My answer: "I'll take the leftover diesel fuel, but you'll still have to pay for the entire compartment".

Hi Pharroh, well, what to you expect. Those people probably couldn't tell you what that tall stick with the numbers on it in the back, is used for anyway. Next time, tell them, yup, all set, load just fit, then go down the road and hang a sign on the back of the trailer, Gas/diesel, $1.00/gal. Everybody's a winner.:biggrin_2559:

Not a bad idea Mr "semi" retired. Forgot about this gem last night when I was posting. Guys ask all the time if the regular unleaded doesn't fit it the tank, just put the rest in the super tank. Always the same dirtbag stations that ask you to do that too.
