Didn't get an answer last time so I'll ask again. I'm seriously thinking about buying my own truck because I am practically paying my company to run me as a company driver--going further into debt. w/ each load. Looking for an older truck to buy. Can do a fair amount of mechanical repairs myself but I sure don't have the $ to run under my own authority w/ my own insurance and I'm not going to lease. I'm wondering, which companies will run you w/ a truck older than 5 years? Thanks!

Buying a truck right now would be like knowing you shouldn't fart, but you do it anyway.

the outfit im leased to will let you run an older truck

but buying a truck right now is not the best option, think yer just runnin as a company driver now, wait till you buy yer own and run yer tail off for LESS than a company driver makes

    this economy sucks

    What do you mean "
I am practically paying my company to run me as a company driver--going further into debt. w/ each load. " My driver is a company driver and gets paid a percentage of each load (not saying that's the best way but how the owner does it) Answering that might clarify why you are losing money as co. driver.

Yes... please clarify this....How are you paid? What are you paying for as a company driver?

Clarification: I mean I have a family and it turns out they need to be fed. And since I am not earning enough money to support a family even running my ### off 24/7 for my company, we continue to slide into debt. I'm paid (if you want to call it that) by the mile.
