Kenworth 3406e 550 cat Year 2000
Started truck, ran for like 5 min. then just shut off.Tried to start again and would not turn over, truck had a lot of power just would not turn over. All the lights, gauges, alarms etc were working. Thought maybe it was out of fuel, put 10 gallons in still nothing. Mechanic came to look at truck and noticed a 30 amp fuse blown under dash replaced fuse. Plugged his computer into truck and it read no data. Tried to start today plenty of power, just wont turn over. Someone thinks it might be inline fuse on positive side of battery, someone else is saying maybe brain. Please advise

What you're explaining doesn't make sense. If it won't turn over, why would you think it was out of fuel? If the engine will not turn over, I would start with the starter motor. If it will turn over but will not crank, I would start checking fuses going to the ECM, since you stated the scanner wouldn't communicate with the ECM. Be a little more descriptive on what is actually happening here.

I'd check the connections going into the ECM... push them in one at a time. Sometimes they work loose from vibrations...
-
If it won't do anything but you still have lights etc.... check the starter relays. Check the ignition switch. Make sure you're wires/connections are tight on starter/solenoid.
My truck did this twice. Once it was the starter relay and the next time a faulty ignition switch. -

Turn over means the engine crank rotating. Cranking means it will start up and run. At least these are the terms I learned over the last several years I was a mechanic.

So it will turn over but not fire/start?

Open the little door for the fusebox down by the clutch pedal. There is a breaker for ignition down low. Its below the bottom of the little door. See if its popped out. If not, turn the key on, turn the cruise off and push the set speed switch down for 5-10 seconds. Count the flashes on the check engine light. If everything is ok electrically it will flash five times, small delay and five more times. Code 55 means no faults. Another thing is if there is a bunch of keys hanging off the keyswitch, it might have gone bad, you can try wiggling the key and see what happens.
Marquezw900 Thanks this. -
Sorry just re read the first post, I thought it was a Peterbilt he was having a hard time with. I think the fault codes and way to get them are the same though
